The Trace 98 from Armada is a playful directional ski designed for skiers that enjoy mixing it up in varying terrain and soft snow. The directional nature of this ski allows it to perform well on firmer or groomed terrain, but it really shines in terrain and snow you would find off the beaten path. The Trace 98 features a fairly sot and forgiving flex, but contrary to what some may think, it still provides good stability despite its more forgiving characteristics. Armada uses their Adaptive Mesh Construction which keeps the tips and tails of the skis quiet, while allowing energy to be driven into the edges through the central portion of the ski. As a result, you get a damp and stable ski with good edge hold. Adding to the ski's smooth feel overall is the early taper out in the tip. This type of tip shape allows the ski to cut through softer snow like a knife and reduces the ski's tendencies to deflect off of variable snow and crud. One of the highlighting characteristics of the Trace 98 is its lightweight construction. This really allows it to excel as an Alpine Touring ski, especially for skiers in search of a hybrid setup with which they can both go touring and rip the resort.
